Ando’s early breakthrough: a closed concrete box on a tight Osaka lot, with a central outdoor court that brings light and rain into daily life.
The plan is trisected so the middle third stays open to the sky. Rooms on either side are reached by crossing the court—an early template for his later concrete work.
Highlights
- Courtyard — How do rain and light set the rhythm of living inside a closed street wall?
- Street façade — What does the nearly windowless front protect?
