Where furniture meets architecture
Born in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland, in 1878. Gray studied at the Slade School in London and academies in Paris, moving from furniture and interiors into architecture. E-1027 (1926–1929), designed with Jean Badovici, is her best-known built work—a seaside house where fixed and free-standing furniture define how rooms are lived in. Died in Paris in 1976.
